Host: Your next step is to find out how to take care of your body during your third trimester.
Nurse: Let's talk for a few minutes about diet and exercise in the third trimester. At this point, you should be gaining up to 1 and a half pounds each week, so it is particularly important that you and your baby are eating well. And although sometimes it may feel impossible to exercise when your stomach is the size that it is, now is the time to make sure you're in great shape for delivery. Let's look again at the weight gain table to make sure you're on track.
In most cases, you will have gained somewhere between 15 and 21 pounds during your first two trimesters. Over the last 13 to 14 weeks of your pregnancy, you'll gain another 10-14 pounds. Your provider will be keeping a close eye on your weight gain at this point, and can give you advice on how to stay on track with your diet.
Remember to drink plenty of water. It's especially important that you don't risk getting dehydrated in these later stages of pregnancy! Your body, and your baby, will thank you!
