Pregnancy A to Z - Suitcase Packing List

It's a great idea to pack your suitcase for your hospital stay before you actually go into labor. Just about everything you will need for your hospital stay will be provided for you, but there are a few other items that you may want or need.

The list below provides some suggestions on things that you may want to include. And don't worry, the car seat does not need to fit in your suitcase!

• Nightgown, robe, and slippers (You'll probably want to wear a hospital gown immediately after you deliver, since you'll be bleeding. After your bleeding has slowed down, you may feel more comfortable in your own things)
• Underwear to support sanitary pads as you won’t be using tampons for a while
• Good support bra (preferably a tight fitting sports bra if you plan to formula feed or a nursing bra if breast feeding)
• Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, shampoo, deodorant, make-up, etc.
• Birth announcements and baby book
• Going-home clothes for you and baby - don't forget your baby's blanket!
• Phone numbers of those you will want to call and maybe even a phone card to call family
• Infant pacifier if you plan to use one
• A safety tested infant car seat. You must have this for your baby's trip home from the hospital. It's the law and it's smart!!!
