Host: Of course, there are many other symptoms that you may experience after you have your baby. Each woman is different, and just as each pregnancy is different, so is each woman’s "post partum" experience.
Doctor: Having your baby will be profound, life changing and, probably, very stressful. It's not unusual for new mothers to feel a variety of emotions ranging from extreme joy to deep sadness. Up to 70% of women will get the "baby blues" after their baby is born. The symptoms can include things like crying for no apparent reason, sudden mood swings, and even headaches and insomnia. "Baby blues" can show any time during the first two weeks after your baby is born, and may last for a few days up to a week. Getting enough rest and eating well, plus the support and understanding of those around you, should help you get through this time. Just know that what you're feeling is normal and that the "Baby Blues" go away soon.
